Related Assets

Introduction:

The Related Assets tool enables admins and contributors to link assets together – meaning that if you’re viewing an asset, previews of its related assets will appear in the right panel. (Those previews will not appear if the user doesn’t have permissions for the asset.)

Admins and contributors are able to relate up to 123 assets. Assets must be active to appear in the related list (but not required to relate them).

You can also use Related Assets to control which assets are eligible for use in Webdam Templates.

Why can't you relate images that are deactivated?

Is there no way to "un-relate" assets?

I am trying to relate assets together using the results of a search query. I select all the assets from the search query that I would like to relate, go to click 'Edit Selected Assets' button but I do not get a drop down menu. Am I limited to only relating multiple assets together if they live in the same folder?

    Hello Regina,

You can indeed relate assets across different folders. When you click on an asset, you'll see the "Add Related" link on the right hand side. In the following window, you can select assets in that folder, and navigate to other folders with the 'breadcrumbs' navigation across the top.

Is it possible to "select all" related assets so you can be more efficient about editing metadata, etc?

    Hi Christine,

I'm afraid not, related assets don't come together in the metadata editor.

Why can't you relate inactive assets?

    Hi Cecilia,

I think I'll need to look into that. It seems like you should be able to.

    Hi Bill and Cecilia,

It seems that you can relate inactive assets, but they won't show as related unless they are both active.

When you make them active the related assets will suddenly appear. It only works if both assets are active.

It would be helpful for our business to be able to see inactive related assets, just as you would see the active ones.

Why is there a limitation on how many assets that can be related? Is the 123 relatable assets to 1 asset or is it 123 assets total per user?
