iStock Integration

iStock is an online, royalty-free, international microstock photography provider offering millions of photos, illustrations, clip art, videos, and audio tracks.

The iStock integration automatically uploads assets from your iStock account (or multiple accounts) to Webdam for a centralized asset management experience.

This integration is part of the Integrations Hub

    1. Your authentication name: Enter a name for the authentication.

  6. Click Create, then Next.
  7. [optional] Include videos?: If you want iStock videos to be uploaded to your Webdam account, check the box to Include videos.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select New authentication to add your iStock credentials, then click Create.
  10. License Model: Click the dropdown to select whether the license model is Subscription or Credits. Learn more about the license models here.
Note: If you have assets licensed under the credit and subscription model, you must create separate connections for each type.
  11. [optional] Sync History after: You can control which assets are uploaded to Webdam based on when they were licensed.
    • If a date is selected, only assets licensed after that date will be uploaded.
    • If left blank, all licensed assets will be uploaded to the DAM.
  12. [optional] Sync Organization Assets?: If you are part of an iStock enterprise account and your profile has permission to view organization assets, you can import all assets across your entire organization.
    • Select True to sync all organizational assets.
    • Select False to sync assets licensed by the authenticated user only.
  13. Metadata Mapping: If you want to map certain iStock metadata to your Webdam metadata, you can do so by following these steps:
    1. Click Add Mapping.
    2. Click Choose an option under iStock Field and select a field from the dropdown.
    3. Then, Choose an option under the Webdam Field that you’d like to map it to.
Note: If you leave this section blank, only the default metadata will map to Webdam. Learn more here.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Other Metadata: In addition to mapping metadata, you can automatically add certain metadata values to assets synced from iStock. For example, you can set an “Asset Type” metadata field to “Stock.”
    1. Click Add a new mapping.
    2. Select the metadata Webdam Field from the dropdown, then add the Value that you’d like to add to that field.
    3. Click Next.
  16. Upload folder: Select the top-level folder where you would like to have the synced assets uploaded.
  17. Click Next, then Finish.

How to use the integration

After configuration, all licensed images (and videos, if enabled) for the connected iStock account will be uploaded to the selected Webdam folder. Moving forward, any licensed asset will automatically upload to Webdam roughly 2 hours after you license it. You can move the folder, but it should not be deleted. If you delete the folder, the upload will fail until you add a new one in the configuration wizard.

If you delete an iStock asset from Webdam, it will not automatically be reuploaded to Webdam. If you delete an iStock asset from your iStock account or if your license expires, it will not automatically be deleted from Webdam.

Edit the integration

You can edit the configuration if you want to disable the integration, update your iStock settings, sync (or no longer sync) videos, or edit your iStock credentials.

  1. Navigate to > System Preferences > Integrations Hub.
  2. Click Active Integrations in the left sidebar, then Edit in the section of the connection that you would like to update.
  3. Make your changes, then click Save.

Metaproperty information

The keywords will automatically update with the following details. You can map additional iStock metadata to Webdam metaproperties during the integration configuration.

  • Keywords: iStock, author/photographer name, and the iStock ID.
