Webdam Connector for Adobe Creative Cloud (CC2015): Installation Guide

With the Webdam Connector for Adobe Creative Cloud, designers can drag and drop assets into InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator directly from Webdam.

The Connector is compatible with Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 on Mac or PC (Windows 64-bit). The Connector is NOT compatible with Creative Cloud 2017 at this time – we'll update when support is available.

Note: Webdam Connector for Adobe Creative Cloud is an add-on feature. If you would like to add this to your Webdam subscription, please contact your Customer Success Manager or email success@webdam.com for additional information.

Note: Adobe no longer supports CS6, therefore users operating the Webdam Connector with CS6 may experience limited connectivity and support options.

Important note before you start: Only one version of Webdam Connector can be active at a time. You must remove any existing Webdam Connector plug-ins from your computer before installation. Follow these instructions to uninstall an existing Webdam Connector.

To install the connector, you must be signed in to your computer's Admin account, guest or secondary accounts cannot install the Connector. If you do not have admin privileges for your machine, contact your IT department.

Once installed, only Admin or Contributor accounts will grant access to Webdam via the connector.

Install the Webdam Connector for Adobe Creative Cloud for Mac:

  • Download and install the ZXPInstaller application. This application uses the same Adobe installation subsystem as Adobe AddOns.

    • Click the .dmg file in the download bar at the bottom of your browser.

    • When the ZXPINstaller window displays, drag the ZXPInstaller to your Applications folder.

  • Open ZXPInstaller from your Applications folder. (ZXPInstaller is not currently available on the Mac App Store, so your security settings may not allow you to open it. To change your settings, open your System Preferences and click Security & Privacy. Under "Allow app downloaded from:" select Anywhere. Some companies require IT to change this setting for you.)

Important note: Don't double-click the .zxp files or attempt to install using the Adobe CC Extension Manager – it will corrupt your installation. Adobe CC Extension Manager was discontinued with the CC 2014 release.

  • Install the .zxp file.
    • Drag the .zxp file into the window, or click in the window and select the .zxp file.
    • ZXPInstaller will start installing the CC extensions in the .zxp file.

(If the installation fails, be sure you have Adobe Creative Cloud and not a version of Adobe Creative Suite. The Connector is not compatible with Creative Suite.)

  • Open the Webdam panel after installation.
    • Open InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop.

    • Click Window in the top navigation, then select Extensions > Webdam CC Connector.

    • After you open the panel, enter your Webdam credentials.

Install the Webdam Connector for Adobe Creative Cloud for Windows:

  • Make sure all your Adobe programs are closed.
  • Click the .exe file in the download bar at the bottom of your browser. You may get a “Windows protected your PC” warning because it’s an unrecognized file – if so, click More info then Run anyway.
  • Open the Webdam panel after installation.
    • Open InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop.

    • Click Window in the top navigation, then select Extensions > Webdam CC Connector.

    • After you open the panel, enter your Webdam credentials.

What is the status on the connector for CC 2017? I cannot package any files due to the plugin not working on CC 2017.

Is this change to coincide with the announced Jan. 9 new release? We also need this new connector and are waiting anxiously.

Thank you, Brett. May I suggest crossposting in the articles with a "looking for the 20XX connector? Click Here." type of thing at the top? Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough but I spent like 5 or 10 mins between google and the search bar here trying to find the right page.
